Now in Uganda |
Television:- In the past we used to have UTV (Uganda Television) which used to open I think at 6:00pm and could close at 10:00 pm with just a handful of programmes but not anymore. It has now changed to Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC). In the same vein we used to have only one television the one above but now we have very many which have been forced to up their sleeves due to the pressure from the pay television broadcasting. Radio:- Radio Uganda used to dominate the airwaves then but a “Tsunami” of Fm radio stations have taken over that space and there is serious music being played on those fm radio stations. For Oldies try 90.0fm and for urban hits try 88.2fm
Schools: - In the past Namasagali College which was headed by Fr.Grimes was the school to go to which was located deep down in Kamuli District but these days like we have been observing in the examples above, worth going to schools are in every 2kms from your location.
Special Hire Taxis: - In the past these had to be fairly old vehicles and gradually turned to new cars and now they have crossed to yellow taxi with meters. You pay by meter as opposed to the driver looking at you and charging based on how old you are in the country.
Driving Schools: – Interesting country indeed. In the past cars in the driving schools were very old and very old indeed under the assumption that if you learnt driving from an old car, when you cross to a new car driving would be a lot easier. These days we have had companies like Prestige Driving School taking the driving school business to a new level. They have new cars and have opened up several branches.
DNA Testing: – In the past it was not easy to tell if the children you had were yours especially if you had doubts. Today it is a lot easier. At a nominal fee your doubts can be cleared in an instant.
In the Uganda of today Events like Goats Race, PAM Awards and Marathons have become annual events which used not to be the case. The above events come with much spending and a lot of investments for the organizers. Below are some of the pics from our gallery showcasing the recent Goats Event and the MTN Marathon.
