Stella Nyanzi blocked from travelling abroad
Security operatives have blocked Dr. Stella Nyanzi from leaving the country. The embattled research fellow who was suspended from Makerere University for undressing was back in the news this time, attacking the First Lady, Janet Museveni over her remarks that government did not have enough funds to provide sanitary pads for all the girls in school.
"Immigration officers seized and confiscated my passport including a valid Schengen visa to the Netherlands, and my boarding passes. After intense hushed consultations on cell phone, they instructed me to go back to CID in order to get clearance for any travel."
When Stella asked why she was being stopped from travelling and yet didn't have any travel bans, officials told her that the complainant who had issued summons of alleged Offensive Communication and Cyber Harassment had also issued executive orders against her travel outside the country.
"Shame on those violating my freedom of movement and abusing my right to practice my academic profession," she added.
Following the Kaweesi murder, the President has ordered that surveillance camera's be installed in the city centre and major highways to curb crime, however, Stella using her social media portfolio wondered how government could afford CCTV cameras when they cannot afford sanitary pads.
