The details of how she lost her identity and very nearly her life after being set ablaze by her step-mom seven years back will forever stay with the 20-year-old, Aisha Nabukeera, but that has not stopped her from pursuing further dreams. Early this year, the abuse victim was among the top students for the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) exams and was planning to take on a career in law to fight injustice in Uganda as her next step. On Thursday, Aisha was among the 22 finalists that were unveiled for the Miss Uganda pageant that is slated to take place on July 10, 2015 at Kampala Serena Hotel. The event kicked off with last year's regional winners led by Leah Kalanguka, Miss Uganda 2014-2015 on the catwalk. Apass and Irene Ntale were among the artistes that performed on the night. Samona Beauty Products, one of the sponsors for the event promised to sponsor her with beauty products for at least 12 months. Her foster father, businessman Frank Gashumba welcomed the move and promised to support her all the way. "As Amama Mbabazi declares his Presidential Bid, our own miracle girl Aisha Nabukeera is officially running for MISS UGANDA 2015-2016," Frank noted on his wall. More on Miss Uganda
