Businessman, David Katumwa, was yesterday detained at Katwe police station on charges of defilement. On the charge sheet, it's indicated that on 02.Jan.2015, Katumwa willingly and unlawfully had sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old from a lodge in Zana. Following a tip off from the girls' relatives. Katumwa was on Thursday arrested from his Makindye home and escorted to Katwe Police Station. The case is filed under SD45/07/01/2015. He has however denied the charges claiming that the relatives to the girl simply want to extort money from him. They first wanted me to cater for her educational needs something I declined and now they are fabricating stories, " the owner of the Ben Kiwanuka based Katumwa Sports Center said. Katumwa started off by selling pancakes and it was proceeds from the pancakes that paid for his school dues, but he later dropped out of school. He continued with his business of selling vegetables and fish which he also dropped to concentrate on second hand sports shoes.
