It started off as a calm ''walk to work'' march with a number of opposition leaders but within hours many of them had been arrested. The opposition leader Kizza Besigye announced that they will be walking to office to protest the high fuel and commodity prices..
He was putting on a checkered shirt, cream khaki trouser and a cap together with a a bag on his back as he started off the walk from his Kasangati home. School going children and a few people on the sides were cheering him as he walked the talk.
A few yards from his home, a police officer obstructed his way and asked him not to proceed with the journey as he was an important person to walk, they in fact offered him a lift, which he turned down.
The scuffle ensued as the number of police officers increased before the opposition leader decided to seat by the road side for about 2 hours. They later over powered him onto a police pick up to Kasangati police.
In a related development Norbert Mao(DP) was also arrested from Ntinda side where they were running battles, tear gas with the police. In other places, Abdul Katuntu, Nandala Mafabi, Wafula Oguttu and Anne Mugisha all FDC officials were arrested and taken to Jinja road police station.
