The last update from the National Tallying Centre at Namboole has put Museveni at 4,273,072 (68.71%) followed by his closest challenger Dr. Kizza Besigye at 1,574,616 (25.88%). DP's Norbert Mao and UPC's Olara Otunnu stand at 124,771 and 109,438 respectively. The rest of teh candidates are below 100,000.

Chances are the next time Eng. Kiggundu makes an update, it might be the final position. Otherwise the FDC candidate maintains the poll has not been free and fair and they are still going on with the counting of votes from their own tallying centre which will be released for comparison purposes.

It should be noted that from the current results that have been announced, the incumbent is left with 450,776 to tripple the FDC candidate making it very unlikely for FDC to bridge the gap from the votes that are yet to be announced.

The general elections have been branded as free and fair according to election observers and generally peaceful.
