Embooko singer Master Blaster shot in bar brawl
Embooko singer, Master Blaster, real name Cornelius Oloya succumbed to bullet shots on Tuesday morning. He was shot twice in the stomach, died at Mulago Hospital hours later.

The shooting happened at Eden Pub in Bwaise when a scuffle broke out between Sudanese party goers who were having an end of year party and Ugandan youth. The Sudanese were having an exclusive party but this did not go down well with some youth who wanted to access the venue.

A scuffle broke out at about midnight and went on till morning at 6:00am when the shooting took place. The bar management was forced to lock the Sudanese revellers inside the bar until morning but on opening up, their rivals were waiting for them, sparking another fight.

Kawempe Division police commander, Hashim Kasinga told one publication that as police tried to disperse the crowd, one of them tried to reach out to an armed policeman and that is how the stray bullet caught Master Blaster. He was taken to Mulago by police where he died two hours later.

Police has spent the better part of the day in running battles with Bwaise residents who were trying to harm Sudanese residents in the area, most of them have sought refuge at neighboring police stations. In some instances, police has deployed heavily at homes with Sudanese nationals to avoid further fights.

Bobi Wine had to prevail over the Bwaise locals together with police before peace could return in the area. The singer's body was moved from Mulago mortuary to Bwaise and later National Theatre and on Thursday, the body will be taken to Kitgum.

The government of South Sudan has sent a condolence message to the family of the late Master Blaster, and appealed for calm. It was an accident and we are sorry for all those who have been hurt in the process a source from South Sudan Embassy in Uganda noted.

Kasiwukira, the deputy treasurer of Kwagalana group dies
Businessman, Eria Sebunnya Bugembe aka Kasiwukira was knocked down this morning as he jogged in Muyenga. According to neighbours, a car was parked around his home and the moment he came out to start his morning run, this is when the car was driven off knocking him in the process. The driver did not stop.

According to the Uganda Police publicist, Patrick Onyango, this was intentional and the hunt for the car and driver is on, though it's too early to reveal their findings. Before the era of the CD's, Kasiwukira was the brand name in the Uganda music industry.

He used to duplicate music on tapes in the 1980's which could then be distributed around by vendors.

Conflicting causes for his death - Some people are of the view that the car was used as a ploy while others say he was hit by a hard object.

Juliana Kanyomozi's only son, Keron Raphael Kabugo, was laid to rest today in Matugga, Kiryangonja. During the funeral service at All Saints Cathedral, Keron's doctor at Nakasero Hospital told mourners that he suffered eight rounds of cardiac arrest.

Doctors here and in Nairobi did all they could to save Keron's life, but the extremely aggressive infection to the lungs plus the cardiac arrests made it difficult for him to survive, the doctor added.

Keron was branded a fighter. In a note to his dad, Keron told of how he had been injected many times but could no longer feel the pain nor cry.

Juliana has been strong all through and also appealed to her super fans to be strong, but during that moment as the pall bearers lowered Keron, she could not hold it...

Keron loved football. He was training with Edgar Youth Programme. Next to Juliana is the Uganda Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Katumba Wamala. Keron was Juliana and Amon's only child, he was turning 12 this September.

"When someone we love dies, we never get to see them again but we will always feel them, because they live in our hearts and our memories, in our smiles and our tears and even though we can't touch them, we will never forget how they touched us."

Juliana asks for privacy during this difficutl time
As Juliana is coping with grief and the loss of her only child, Keron, she has thanked all of you for keeping her in your thoughts, but also, requests for some privacy during this difficult time as she noted this morning. Below is her detailed message.

"On Sunday morning our beloved Keron went to be with the Lord after battling valiantly but ultimately unsuccessfully for his life at the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi. We have been overwhelmed by the love, prayers and support we have received and continued to receive from friends, fans and family."

"We ask that you keep us in your thoughts and prayers but also allow us some privacy in this difficult time to mourn our terrible loss. A funeral programme will be announced in due course. For messages of support, kindly contact: Eddy Ndawula (+256712942418) or Paul Kaganzi (+256772316145) We thank you all."

Keron's body will be in the country tonight at 7:00pm. Juliana is right when she asks for privacy because some people were taking advantage of the situation to extort money from unsuspecting individuals, others made it worse by giving the impression that it was Juliana who had passed on.

Olavi's Body Found 36 Hours Later!

April 27, 2014 (Munyonyo) (KLA) -- Yusuf Matovu aka Youma's family is mourning their son who drowned in Lake Victoria on Sunday. Olavi Matovu, 34, was pulled from the lake by police marine unit and special airforce soldiers on Tuesday afternoon..

It was supposed to be a fun day as Olavi with friends went for a day trip but at around 6:30pm, he dived into the water to swim as they waited for a colleague who was cruising another boat ski. He got caught up in the strong current.

Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga said that the body was recovered not very far from where he dived, though he was lighter than his presumed weight. He also had swellings.

Authorities took the body to Mulago Hospital for further investigations from pathologists. The current must have been so strong because Olavi is such a good swimmer who is fond of doing long distances. It is sad because his wedding was due for next month. Olavi will be buried tomorrow.

Paddy Bitama's burial delayed
Paddy Bitama was to be buried on Monday, January 13, 2014 but that program has since changed and it could take up to 5 days before the fallen comedian can be buried.

This follows a one Peter Kasozi sticking to his guns that Paddy Ssali aka Bitama is his son, and, must be buried at his ancestral home. At the same time, the known family members to the late Paddy Bitama as expected, were ready to have him buried yesterday with his grave neatly done, but they might have to wait a little longer.

Police Intervenes
Police was forced to intervene on the advise of Peter Kasozi. On Monday morning, police stormed the National Theatre where his body was lying for public viewing and took it to Mulago Hospital where it's being tightly guarded after two parties, from different clans are claiming the body.

Paternity Tests
Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) paternity samples have now been taken from Ronald Ssali, Paddy Bitama's brother and Peter Kasozi who claims to be the real father to ascertain if these two (Paddy, Peter) are actually related. The results will either exclude Peter Kasozi or include him as the biological father.

How Long Will This Take?
Express paternity tests take between 12 to 72 hours, but standard tests go up to 5 days. Given the confusion at hand, both parties have to wait because a DNA test is the most accurate genetic identification test available.

Last Friday, it was rumoured that Paddy Bitama was dead which turned out to be a death hoax, but a day later, Paddy Bitama died but many still doubted. Friends and family including Peter Kasozi went to Nansana where his body was to prove, but unfortunately for Peter, he was chased by comedians and die hard fans to The Amarula Comedy group.

Peter Kasozi had to involve police and that is how events have unfolded so far.

Former South African President Nelson Mandela dies aged 95!
It's just six days after the passing of the 'Fast and Furious' star, Paul Walker and now, the world is mourning former South African President, Nelson Mandela. He died ''peacefully'' on Thursday night at his home in Johannesburg.

"Our nation has lost it's greatest son. Our people have lost a father. Although we knew that this day would come, nothing can diminish our sense of a profound and enduring loss," South African President Jacob Zuma said in a televised address.

President Obama referred to him as the "most influential, courageous and profoundly good" people to ever have lived. "He achieved more than could be expected of any man." He went ahead to order that the flags be lowered to half staff in honor of Mandela.

On completing his law degree in 1942, he joined the African National Congress (ANC) and for 20 years, he was leading a non violent campaign against the South African government. He decided to change strategy to armed struggle, this is when he was arrested for plotting to oust the government by violence. He was sentenced in 1964 to 27 years in prison. On Feb 11, 1990, he was released and a year later, he was elected the President of ANC.

At the age of 75, Nelson Mandela became the first black President of South Africa between 1991 to 1995 when he retired to concentrate on a number of human rights activities.

Celebs have since been paying their respects to the fallen leader and some of them include:

Rihanna: "You made your people proud!! We'll always love you for it!"

Bill Gates: "Every time Melinda and I met Nelson Mandela, we left more inspired than ever. His grace and courage changed the world. This is a sad day."

Whoopi Goldberg: "I want  to give the world a hug I was told Mandeba just passed. Nelson Mandela R.I.P. Time for a well earned sleep. Condolences to his family."

Larry King "Sad to hear about the passing of Nelson Mandela - he was the greatest figure of the 21st century - a fascinating man."

Mike Tyson "I'm hearing about Nelson Mandela's death while on African soil in Oran, Algeria. Sending prayers to Mandela's family."

Tributes from our very own stars:

Iryn Namubiru: "RIP Nelson Mandela. I continue to pray for our loved ones and all those fighting to get back on their feet where ever they are!In God's Name."

Bobi Wine: "Rest In Peace, Father of Nations."

Bebe Cool: "With deep sorrow I would like to announce the departure of the greatest black African freedom fighter who just passed on to heaven a few minutes ago, Nelson Mandela may your soul rest in eternal peace. Uganda and Gagamel will always respect you."

Juliana Kanyomozi - "R.I.P baba Nelson Mandela. What a legacy. I remember an interview you did where the host struggled to get you to take any credit in the anti - apartheid struggle. You kept giving credit to others instead. You are a hero and one of the world's greatest people and yet yo humility and modesty always shined through. That is wat I'll remember most about you."

Martin Angume dead
He is on record for being the one artiste being pronounced dead on several occasions and yet he was alive, but this time, Martin Angume did not make it. Confirming his death was his wife, Julie who had even composed a song for the ailing husband.

Martin Angume has been in Mulago Hospital for the last three months battling kidney and lung infections. A number of well wishers have been supportive to the 'Switch' singer in terms of putting resources together and among them include Betty Mpologoma, Members of the Kwagalana Group and Katsha from South Africa.

Dr. James Mulwana Dies at 76
Photo: Nicholas Oneal

As people in Kampala were getting to terms with the death of a businessman Juvenal Nsenga who was accidentally knocked by his wife last Friday, another powerful businessman has died.

According to family members, Industrialist James Mulwana passed on this morning at Nakasero hospital following abdominal complications.

James founded very successful companies that included Nice House of Plastics, Jesa Mixed Farm and Uganda Batteries Ltd among others. He also revived operations at the Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) an association for manufacturers across East Africa.

If you haven't used tooth brushes made by his company, then you must have used cups or plates made by Nice House of Plastics. Chances are the pen you are using to write is made by the same company.

Short of that, your car uses a battery made by Uganda Batteries Ltd, one of his many companies or your kids have demanded for that flavoured JESA yoghurt and the list goes on not forgetting the number of employees under his business empire.

A post-mortem is being carried out at Case Clinic on Buganda road in Kampala. Dr. Mulwana (76) was the Chairman of Standard Chartered Bank at the time of his death.

The father-of-three will be buried tomorrow at 1:00pm in Busunju-Mubende District along Kampala Hoima road. The country is mourning the passing of a philanthropist.

Members of the Swangz Avenue Studio,  the producers of Sera's music came shortly after. The Church was full to the extent that those who came late had to stand outside just to bid farewell to the young talented star whose music has been playing on TVs and Radio Stations in the last 48hours as a way of celebrating her life.

Julius Kyazze a member of the Swangz Avenue who was with Sera at the time she collapsed told mourners that they were on their way back from Masaka when the young star started complaining of pain in the stomach. Sera and friends who had gone for burial were so hungry and yet she had a peptic ulcer.

They took her to a clinic in Kalisizo where she was given some medication and showed some signs of improvement, they even had a chat and promised to go back to thank the guys who helped them. This is when they set off with the journey to get more specialized treatment but unfortunately, Sera could not make it.

Sera's mom Elizabeth who told mourners that her daughter was God fearing looked very composed and strong. "I called Sera that morning that she could come and join me for prayers at Christ the King but she told me that she was on her way to Masaka" The mom said.

Sera was born in the month of June, 1990 and died on the 31-July-2012. She joined the Swangz Avenue Studio at the age of 19 and since then, they have been managing and producing her music. She will be laid to rest in Nansana at 2:00PM.

Prof. Willam George Kakoma passes on Easter day
George William Kakooma has passed on at the age of 88 after battling with a brain stroke that he got in August last year.

According to the Widow Maria Theresa, he died this morning at his daughters home in Kololo. The wife confirmed that : "It is true he is dead, we are preparing to take the body to Mulago Hospital."

He composed the anthem on the eve of Uganda's Independence in 1962 and while he did that, there was a strong message in the anthem that if all Ugandans took note of we would be very far as a country.

His wife Maria Thereza a few months back said that Kakoma attended Kings College Budo, East Africa Conservatoire of Music School in Nairobi(1947) and later left for the royal College of Music in London until 1952.

Before Professor Kakoma was attacked by the stroke, he was a farmer and also worked as Inspector of Schools in Music. Uganda will be celebrating 50 years of independence in a few months but unfortunately, the Professor will not be around to celebrate the nation's landmark anniversary.
