Ugandan musicians to vie for political seats in 2021The battle lines have been drawn after Bobi Wine won the Kyadondo parliamentary seat with a landslide victory. In the next elections, we could see up to 10 artists vying for political posts in their respective areas. Ads Top on the list are Dan Kazibwe aka Ragga Dee, who gave a shot for the Lord Mayor of Kampala, but failed, Eddy Yawe (Bobi Wine's brother) who has tried twice for a parliamentary seat and failing on both occasions. The other is Afrigo Band's Rachael Magola who is going to give the Iganga Woman MP slot another try after the passing of Hon. Hailat Kauda Grace. Magola was trounced by the late Kauda Grace. The Obangaina singer was specifically bitter with those who tried to belittle artistes following the win of Bobi Wine, no doubt, she's coming back with a bang. Hon. Judith Babirye is already in the house. We now bring you the other artists that are likely to pick up the nomination forms come 2021;

Our Celebrities and their mom'sArtists were busy celebratiing their mothers and interestingly, they all look alike... Navio - "Leader, Mother, Teacher, Woman, Doctor, Revolutionary, Olympian, Role Model, Friend, Confidant, Kigozi, Blick, Grand Ma, Selfless, Professor, Mum, Scout, Aunty, Reader ..... Maurice Kirya - "Happy Mother's day to all you wonderful mothers of the world! We are nothing without you!" Unfortunately for him, the mom passed on in 2015, she was also Vampino's mom. Vampino is the artist behind the Smart Wire hit song. The Cherie singer, Lydia Jazmine, is a little version of her mom - "Happy Mothers Day to all mom's in the world..Special wishes to the love of my life!!" Irene Ntale's message featured a line off Rema's Banyabo song that she dedicates to all the women..."Singa si Mukyala I love you Mommy. From mine to yours, Happy Mothers Day, " The she Go Down singer wrote. The Tokombako singer, Spice Diana, and her mom can easily pass for identical twins. "She has watched me grow into the lady I am today, help me achieve my dreams, sacrifice her happiness for me, taught me most of the things I know, thank you mama, Happy mothers day to all the mother's in the world." Sheebah Karungi - "Thank you Mama for not leaving me in a box on someone's doorstep, Happy Mamas Day." Wednesday, July 06 2016

Navio is known for his rap songs but his latest Njogereza hit is a traditional love themed song. It's off his Chosen album. In the song, Daniel Kigozi aka Navio blends it with a bit of hip-hop something that hasn't happened before, he is hoping it becomes a Kwanjula anthem. Back then, Navio could not do a Luganda song but not anymore. His previous Luganda attempts like 'Naawuliranga' and Mbamalawo, the rapper is helped or does a bit of broken Luganda but in Njogereza, the number one rapper is so fluent. Twelve years back, he was quoted as saying he could not do a song in a language he could not speak but with the likes of Dvid Lutaalo trying out English via his 'Sooooo Nice' and Omutujju doing wonders with his 'Broken English' song, Navio is left with no choice but to attack. The video was shot from Entebbe Botanical Gardens. "This song just gave me chills," Ex-Miss Uganda, Aysha Salma wrote. "He put swagg into Kadongo Kamu omgucci I love it. Did I just see the dab in this video," Socialite Sue Ochola added. Leka Kwenyumiriza and Bugumu which he prefers to pronounce as 'Buguma' are some of his Luganda songs. Singers Iryn Namubiru and Navio paid the Zari's a visit at their Munyonyo based home, Diamond Platnumz was there too and among others, collaboration projects were discussed. "Awww aunt Irene with Shikki," Zari captioned the Iryn-Queen Latty pic, then the boys preferred a photo moment with rapper Navio due to their love for rap music. It was not long before 'secret admirers' were on board warning Zari about Iryn Namubiru being that close to her, she could end up losing the Tanzanian singer if she wasn't careful. "Why is she coming out now during the time when Diamond Platnumz is around, where was she before," one asked. "It's so out dated calling people w.hores, s.luts and prostitutes, the moment you open your legs, you could be one too. Let's find something new," Zari wrote in response. Iryn made a post to justify that they've been friends way before; "When you baby sat my boy he was about the same age in 2008. We have come a long way. Only parents can know what it is to spend time with children. All the fun, all the silly talk and being a clown. Our best moments are not on Internet and we can not describe the joy and fun to every one apart from those who matter." The 'hater' went on to say.."That's how Iryn came to Fusion band in the guise of singing but ended up with the boss, the same happened to Juliana when Iryn ''snatched'' Morel from her but if it wasn't meant to be, it can't be, why is she even still using the Morel name!"

Two thugs armed with knives broke into Dr. Maggie Kigozi's house in Rubaga and assaulted her as she came to rescue her niece. The pair sustained minor injuries as they fought the intruders. The former Uganda Investment Authority boss is out of danger and she's been discharged from Nakasero Hospital where she had been admitted. Rapper, Dan Kigozi, aka Navio has issued a statement in which he notes that his mom is a lot better now and has been discharged. "Thank you for all of the support from family, friends and fans. I apologise to the public for not having made a statement yet." These are the facts so far:
Anything else you have heard about the situation is false. "Every picture you have seen is pulled off random crime scenes on the Internet. My mother is stable and strong and has already been discharged. We can all learn from the bravery they have shown and I'm proud to call her my Mother," Navio concluded. After spending a few months in the US, the Sitya Loss singer Eddie Kenzo was back in Uganda but for a few hours before proceeding to Tanzania. It's where he learnt of his latest award, 'Best New Music Act (Africa)' in the just concluded Afro Australian Music and Movie Awards. Last week, Eddy Kenzo and Navio were the only Ugandans nominated in the Channel O Africa music video awards 2014. Interestingly, they are both in the same category of 'Most Gifted East'. MTV Africa Music Awards were held last Saturday in Durban. Navio, Radio and Weasel were the nominated artists from UG but only Navio graced the award event. It is said that their former manager, Jeff Kiwa, was and is still the point of contact for the Goodlyfe Crew, a group that Moze Radio and Weasel have since left. They are are now going by the stage name Radio and Weasel. The communication and all info for the duo to attend the #MAMAs 2014 ended up with Jeff who is no longer working for their interests, and, this is how they missed out. Instead, one Goodlyfe music producer, Bushingtone was the one who went to Durban and the 2013 BET nominees missed out, strange but true. Below are some of the winners for the MAMAs

"I see a new war online. People fighting for rights on radio and TV compared to the West African music played. DJ's make sure you appreciate the good music you get and artists make sure you keep giving them that good music." That was Navio's response to the (UG VS.9JA) music debate which was started by Chameleone at his Tubonge concert and later brought to social media by Bebe Cool. The online discussion was turning into a flame of war prompting NTV's Douglas Lwanga to invite Bebe Cool to throw some light on the topic. XFM's DJ BK was equally invited to the TV show but he instead opted to a phone-in interview as opposed to appearing in the studio. During the show, Bebe Cool mentioned Navio's name opening up a whole can of worms with fans loyal to hiphop and reggae/ragga genres of music. "When Bebe Cool makes a comment and people twist his words, those are the people I will address. You make it seem like I didn't make the most cash of any artist in the last 2 years," Navio wrote. The hiphop rapper who felt the remarks were belittling came out citing his many awards: "So don't talk about who is big in EA right now. Open your eyes. You can't talk about Bobi Wine, Chameleone and lastly Bebe Cool without talking about Navio in UG music, Never put me in the category of a small artist." "I'll say it again, you can't talk about East African Music without talking about Navio. Full stop," The No Holding Back singer, Navio concluded. Related News: Saturday, March 15 2014

The Goodlyfe Crew with their song; 'Can't Let You Go' lost the Channel O award for 'Most Gifted Ragga Dance Hall Video' to Kenya's P-Unit. P-Unit's 'You Guy' did not spare them in another category of 'Most Gifted Ragga Dance Hall Video', the same category Navio has been nominated. Tweeting from South Africa, the Goodlyfe Crew were quick to congratulate P-Unit. "Congs P-Unit, East Africa, Africa CHOAMVA well represented." The 'Leka Kwenyumiliza' singer, Navio did not forget those that voted for him. "Big up to all my fans that voted for me. We'll get it in next year proper! 2014." On the night of the awards, The Goodlyfe Crew wrote: "Tonight is the night of giants, let's celebrate like giants Channel O style," but Bebe Cool simply branded them as losers when it turned out that they had lost. Goodlyfe's camp was quick to shoot back: "Being nominated is an achievement in itself, Radio and Weasel are nominated every year, where is Bebe Cool?" This Friday, Bebe Cool and the Goodlyfe Crew will be battling it out at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds. On the same day, the dynamic duo will also be premiering their latest video, 'Miles Away' before facing off with Bebe Cool who will be in the red corner. Related Posts: Friday, October 11 2013
Hip Hop star, Daniel Kigozi aka Navio has lashed out at his 'haters' in an angry facebook rant. Navio who has just released his latest track, 'On and On', a collaboration with American RnB singer, Keith Sweat is so bitter with a section of people he refers to as 'haters'. He claims that instead of supporting artistes, they end up with a foot in their mouth as he explains below: "The big challenge is individuals going out of their way to undermine artists. Every artist has people dedicated to this cause of undermining them." He goes on to explain; "For example, I was excluded from the line up for R-Kelly’s show. A year later, he was mixing me drinks at his pool bar in his Chicago house. And we were about to hit the studio." Cruises Akon's Lamborghini - "Next I was purposefully excluded from the Akon show. Next thing you know I’m in his Lamboghini driving around Atlanta a month ago." And finally, in the just concluded Nile Gold Jazz Safari that had Keith Sweat as one of the performers at Kampala Serena Hotel, Navio was told that he won't attend, perform or see Keith Sweat as he explains: "Next at Keith Sweat, I was told I wouldn’t be able to attend, perform or see him. Keith lands, calls me up for lunch. He demands seats for me at the show, then to really make these guys feel angry, he calls me on stage at the climax of the show." He wraps up: "The moral is, God's plan always prevails and it is better to help your artists rather than to end up with a foot in your mouth. Like every other country in Africa, be proud and help your artists. Our victories are yours." Do not be a slave to your bitterness. Promote your culture as he signed off. Shortly after Prof. Maggie introducing her, Molly waved to the crowd and moments later, they broke off for dinner. It's during that time that she collapsed dead. The MC of the night, Roger Mugisha was faced with the worst experiences since assuming this role: "I had just mentioned that the old lady has stamina, that she wasn't on a wheelchair..gosh I gave her so many compliments." Telling me she is dead is a shocker. I saw her walking and she looked energetic like she could live another ten years. It's a tragedy, can't believe it though, said one person who was attending the function. The 'Leka Kwenyumiriza' singer had this to say: "People pass away. Remember them as they would like to be remembered." Paddy Blick, Bill, Arthur Blick Mugerwa, Derrick and Maggie Jean Blick Kigozi are Molly Blick's children. Molly loved sports to the point that she used to buy rally cars and motorcycles for her sons. It's not surprising that the same trend has been picked by the sons and grandsons who have continued to dominate the motorbike racing in the country. Wednesday, February 20 2013
'Ngaalo', 'Bugumu', 'Kata' and 'Miliki' which he did with the Late Goldie Harvey from Nigeria are some of his tracks. On Feb 11, Navio had just made a post on his wall announcing that the Miliki video is about to be released not knowing that three days later, Goldie will be no more. Navio's tribute to the late Goldie: "My little sister has passed away. Goldie Harvey honourably Represented Nigeria in the Big Brother House, and was on the fast track to changing the Industry. Klear Kut's JB was last Friday involved in a fight with a yet to be identified Nigerian dude who kissed his gal. The insider source revealed that JB was still walking with a swagg around the club thinking that his gal was by his side, but on looking closely, the Nigerian dude was all over his gal. The long beard JB charged like a lion wanting to rip the guy into pieces. This prompted the bouncers to move in swiftly to quell the situation. Club Rouge's management decided to slap a ban Klear Kut's music from being played st the club for six months. This was not all but also other members associated to Navio's group, Klear Kut were not allowed inside the club. Meanwhile, close pals to the gal revealed that the gal and the Megarian are friends. Uganda will be massively represented on that day with over 40 countries watching the show. Kyle who is representing Uganda is one of six finalists in the run for the USD 300,000 and Navio performing as well just makes it a package. The star who announced way in advance that he could not make it for Sera's burial as he will be in South Africa could not hide his excitement at least from his posting: "I'm officially performing at the Big brother finale. East Africa Oye! Another one for the History Books. East Africa, I think its about time we had an East African performing at the Grand finale and a rapper at that" The choice of an East African to perform on the Grand finale and a Ugandan at that simply confirms the fact that even though Tanzania left in the first week of the show, Kenya and Uganda have managed to hang on in the house for 91 days through Kyle and Prezzo. Kyle and Jannette were the last couple standing until Wati(Malawi) put Kyle on the chopping block. Jannete being put up with Kyle became the weakest link and therefore had to come back home making her the last housemate to leave because after that, there were no more nominations. The show will end this Sunday as Prezzo, Lady May, Keagan, Talia, Wati, and Kyle are working themselves to winning US$ 300,000.
