The High Court Land Division in Kampala has declined an application to sell a prime piece of real estate located on Plot 29, Kololo Hill Drive. The contested property is jointly owned by Hajj Musa Kigongo, the First National Vice Chairperson of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), and his former wife, Olive Kigongo.
Justice Elizabeth Jane Alividza delivered the ruling, dismissing the request brought forward by Olive Kigongo. She had sought a court order to auction the valuable land through an open competitive bidding process and split the resulting proceeds evenly between the two former partners.
However, Justice Alividza held that granting an order to sell the property at this juncture would prematurely interfere with an ongoing appeal. The pending legal challenge stems from an earlier court judgment that officially recognized Olive’s financial and legal interest in the Kololo land.
Legal representatives for both parties will now have to wait for the appellate process to reach its conclusion before any further actions can be taken regarding the disposal or division of the high-value asset.
