Ugandan law enforcement agencies have initiated formal inquiries into the sudden demise of popular comedian Yokana Mbuuse, widely known by his stage name Kapere Lufotose. The 56-year-old entertainer tragically collapsed while attending a combined visitation and graduation ceremony at Jolivo Day Care and Junior School in Kyimbejja, Wakiso district.

According to accounts provided to authorities, Kapere had accompanied his wife, Lydia Nakandi, to visit their daughter, Queen. Eyewitnesses noted that the comedian appeared to be in high spirits earlier in the day, enjoying the school festivities and watching his daughter perform. However, the mood shifted abruptly as the children prepared for a celebratory cake-cutting moment.

Kapere reportedly complained of an intense headache before suddenly biting his tongue and collapsing. Despite frantic efforts by his wife and fellow attendees to render assistance and rush him to nearby medical facilities, including Zam Zam Clinic and Royale Health Services Hospital in Buddo, he was pronounced dead shortly before evening.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala confirmed that investigations are underway and announced that a post-mortem examination will be performed to determine the exact medical cause of death. Meanwhile, Nakandi shared that her husband had recently expressed distress over financial challenges and mounting rent pressures.

Kapere first achieved prominence as a member of the Amarula Family comedy group alongside figures like Amooti and Messe Bontwe. He later expanded his reach through television skits on WBS TV’s Side Mirror and appearances in music videos. Beyond his entertainment career, he was a dedicated supporter of the National Unity Platform, receiving heartfelt tributes from party leadership, including Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu.
