When the House of Bishops nullified the consecration plans for Rev Can Godfrey Kasana as the fourth Bishop of Luweero Diocese in 2023, many viewed it as a devastating career setback. The abrupt cancellation just days before his scheduled ordination could have easily broken his spirit. Instead, the resilient Anglican priest chose to channel his immense energy into agricultural innovation, turning a difficult moment into a powerful success story.
Today, Rev Can Kasana stands as one of the leading model farmers in the Greater Luweero region. Armed with a Bachelor of Divinity and a Master of Arts in Development Studies, he has masterfully combined traditional farming practices with modern spatial management techniques to maximize productivity on his land.
Although his agricultural expansion plans faced minor disruptions between 2023 and 2024, his unwavering commitment to continuous learning kept his vision alive. He frequently drew inspiration from progressive farmers across East Africa, adapting new methods to suit his enterprise.
Farming is hardly a new hobby for the clergyman. Attached to the Luweero Diocese, he has maintained a deep involvement in agriculture alongside his formal Church ministry for over 15 years. For him, working the land is not merely an economic venture, but a practical way to lead his congregation by example.
