Police in Kyankwanzi District have taken a 45-year-old man into custody following the fatal stabbing of his neighbour. The tragic incident unfolded in the early hours of October 30 at Ranch No. 1 Village in Kyankwanzi Sub-county.

The suspect, identified as Bosco Nsengiyunva, allegedly attacked John Paul, also known as Samporo. Both men hailed from Rwanda and worked as casual labourers, living in adjacent makeshift houses while serving different employers.

According to preliminary police findings, the violent confrontation erupted around 3:00 am when Nsengiyunva reportedly found the deceased engaged in an intimate encounter with his wife, Mukasine Venerandi. Overcome by extreme anger, the suspect grabbed a knife and inflicted multiple fatal stab wounds to the victim’s neck.

Taremwa Emmanuel Bakora, the local council chairman of Ranch No. 1 Village, promptly reported the matter to the Kyankwanzi Central Police Station. A specialized homicide team was subsequently dispatched to secure and document the crime scene.

During their search, detectives recovered a blood-stained knife believed to be the murder weapon. The victim’s naked body was discovered in a nearby bush roughly 50 metres from his makeshift residence. Authorities recorded statements from witnesses before transporting the body to Ntwetwe Health Centre IV for a post-mortem examination.

Wamala Region Police spokesperson Lameck Kigozi confirmed that the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation, citing severe provocation. Following the incident, police urged the public to avoid extramarital affairs, warning that such actions frequently trigger tragic domestic violence.
