Prominent Ugandan businesswoman and philanthropist Jane Frances Acilo has officially been appointed as a Global Ambassador for the Elevate Africa initiative. Her new role places her among top continental heavyweights tasked with driving Africa’s leadership narrative and fostering international partnerships.

The announcement was made during the high-profile Elevate Africa Convening 2026, held from October 28 to 29 at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, Ghana. Operating under the theme “Africa: Defining Her Future,” the two-day summit gathered notable figures, including current and former African heads of state, to discuss economic integration, governance, and the continent’s global standing.

As the founder of the Kampala-based Jane Acilo Foundation, Acilo has spearheaded numerous community initiatives focusing on youth and women’s empowerment, educational access, and well-being across Uganda. Her inclusion in the pan-African initiative brings a vital Ugandan perspective to international diplomatic and social transformation efforts.

Speaking after her unveiling, Acilo emphasized the critical need for Africans to take direct ownership of their development and international reputation. She noted that Africans must tell their own stories with conviction, credibility, and pride rather than allowing external voices to define the continent.

“Our ambition should not simply be to change how the world sees Africa,” Acilo stated. “It should be to demonstrate, through substance, innovation, and results, what Africa contributes to the world.”

The Elevate Africa initiative is specifically designed to build collaborative networks, foster homegrown leadership, and reposition the continent’s image on the international stage. Acilo intends to use her platform to connect grassroots success stories with high-level institutional support, translating potential into measurable impact.
