Fresh graduates in Kabale Municipality have been advised to reject the limitations of their modest upbringings and pursue ambitious goals with determination. The call was issued by Rubanda West Member of Parliament, Mr. Bruce Balaba Kabaasa, who served as the chief guest during the 27th graduation ceremony of Bishop Barham University College (BBUC), a constituent college of Uganda Christian University (UCU).
A total of 410 students successfully completed their studies across various disciplines, with 10 international students among the cohort and 10 individuals earning prestigious first-class degrees. The celebratory event was held under the guiding theme of fostering a ‘renewed, transformational mindset.’
Drawing from his own life story, Mr. Kabaasa encouraged the newly minted alumni not to let humble beginnings dictate their future. Sharing his experiences of overcoming obstacles throughout his career, he urged graduates to maintain strong faith when facing inevitable hurdles.
Meanwhile, BBUC Principal Dr. Alice Jossy Kyobutungi challenged the former students to lead with high standards of integrity and competence. She also acknowledged several institutional challenges, including financial constraints and infrastructure deficits, but assured stakeholders that management remains dedicated to strategic growth and academic excellence.
Adding to the counsel, UCU Vice Chancellor Prof. Canon Aaron Mushengyezi advised the graduates to measure true success by the positive impact they create in society and the trust they earn, rather than focusing solely on material wealth or public acclaim.
