Seroma Christian High School is cementing its status as an emerging powerhouse in secondary school sports across Uganda. Located in Kyetume, Mukono District, the institution has spent two decades building a formidable sporting reputation through steady investments in modern infrastructure, including two football pitches, a 25-meter swimming pool, basketball courts, and an indoor gymnasium.

Resident Director Amelia Kyambadde emphasizes that the school’s philosophy revolves around nurturing well-rounded individuals. According to Kyambadde, the deliberate focus on sports ensures that students who might struggle academically still find alternative pathways to success through athletics and the arts.

This robust infrastructure previously allowed Seroma to successfully co-host the 2026 USSSA Ball Games I alongside Namilyango College. Buoyed by that success, Seroma launched a fresh bid to host the 2027 national ball games and swimming gala. However, during a meeting chaired by the Commissioner for Physical Education, the joint bid by Seroma and Namilyango lost out to St. Kaggwa Bushenyi and Bweranyangi Girls. Nevertheless, Seroma successfully secured the rights to host the national schools swimming gala unopposed.

Deputy Commissioner for Physical Education and Sports Sam Odong praised Seroma during a facility inspection, commending the administration for maintaining a dedicated sports budget and urging other learning institutions to emulate their grassroots talent development model.

Looking ahead, Seroma is shifting its sights toward a bigger regional target. The institution plans to bid for the hosting rights of the 2027 East Africa Secondary Schools Games (FEASSSA), which are set to return to Uganda. Read more details about their journey in the Daily Monitor report.
