A violent clash involving suspected rebel factions in South Sudan’s Morobo County has left one person dead and three others with serious injuries. The outbreak of violence occurred around 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, sparking immediate concern among border communities and local authorities.
According to Koboko Resident District Commissioner Hajji Marijani Wailaire, the intensity of the skirmish forced several of the wounded individuals to flee across the international border into Uganda to seek urgent medical attention. Security personnel in the area have also managed to apprehend two suspects in connection with the outbreak of violence.
The porous nature of the border has historically meant that regional conflicts in South Sudan occasionally impact border security and humanitarian conditions in northern Uganda. Local security teams remain on high alert to monitor further movements and ensure the safety of residents living near the frontier.
