MTN Uganda has officially signed a three-year sponsorship deal with Central Broadcasting Service (CBS FM) to support two of the Buganda Kingdom’s prominent cultural platforms, Entanda and Enkuuka. Announced on October 29, the partnership operates under the theme Tukula Ffena, which translates to “We all grow together.”
As part of the agreement, MTN becomes the official sponsor of these traditional events that celebrate Buganda heritage, knowledge, and community gatherings. A notable addition to this year’s lineup is the introduction of the Entanda Corporate Edition, designed specifically to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) connect with broader audiences and participate directly in the cultural celebrations.
Speaking at the launch, MTN Uganda Chief Executive Officer Sylvia Mulinge emphasized that the collaboration aims to build stronger connections among communities and stakeholders. She noted that MTN plans to leverage its digital services and connectivity to enhance audience access and engagement during the festivities.
CBS Managing Director Michael Kawooya Mwebe welcomed the arrangement, highlighting how combining the broadcaster’s local reach with MTN’s technological infrastructure will support cultural preservation and foster economic empowerment. He noted that the initiative is expected to generate opportunities for women and youth while driving wealth creation through digital adoption.
The initiative builds upon a history of cooperation between MTN Uganda, its mobile money arm, CBS, and the Buganda Kingdom. Previous joint efforts have focused on community welfare, including road safety campaigns and fundraising initiatives for the Accident, Injury and Trauma Centre at Nkozi Hospital.
Attending as the guest of honor, Nnaalinya Lubuga Dr. Catherine Agnes Nabaloga praised the collaboration for its potential to drive socio-economic transformation while preserving cultural heritage. She encouraged all parties involved to ensure the partnership delivers practical, long-term benefits for local communities.
