As part of upcoming global commemorations for World AIDS Day, AHF Uganda Cares has announced plans to host a vibrant music concert at the Lugogo Millennium Grounds on November 27, 2026. The initiative aims to leverage the universal appeal of entertainment to deliver crucial HIV prevention messages, challenge persistent social stigmas, and directly connect communities with essential healthcare services.

Officially launched at the Next Media Park, the upcoming event is structured to bridge the gap between young adults and traditional public health spaces. Henry Magala, the Country Programme Director at AHF Uganda Cares, noted that conventional health outreach programmes often fail to attract younger demographics aged 15 to 30. By bringing the message into an energetic concert environment, organisers hope to make health discussions more accessible.

“As an organisation, we thought it right to have a concert which communicates much more clearly to young people,” Magala explained, highlighting the shift away from traditional, less appealing awareness spaces.

While celebrating significant milestones—such as the decline in Uganda’s national HIV prevalence from roughly 18 percent down to about five percent—organisers stressed that there is no room for complacency. Current statistics indicate that approximately 1.496 million adults live with HIV in the country, with about 85.5 percent of them knowing their status. Sustaining public awareness and ongoing testing remains crucial.

The concert lineup features popular artistes including Acidic Vocals, King Michael, and Roden Y Kabako, alongside comedians Maulan and Reign. Beyond the musical performances, the grounds will host dedicated booths providing free HIV testing, general health screenings, and comprehensive information regarding treatment and prevention options.

Ultimately, the event seeks to foster a more inclusive and compassionate environment that tackles discrimination against people living with HIV. Organisers are inviting youth, families, and community leaders to join the movement, emphasising that collective action and knowing one’s status are vital steps as the fight against the epidemic continues.
