Two Chinese nationals have been remanded to Luzira Prison following allegations of using illegal electronic devices to defraud a Kampala casino out of Shs63 million.

Liu Min, 36, and Li Wenshuang, 40, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ritah Neumbe at the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court to face charges related to the incident.

The suspects are facing formal charges of cheating and forging tickets, which fall under the Penal Code Act and the Lotteries and Gaming Act.

During the court session, the charges could not be formally read to the accused individuals because a Chinese interpreter was unavailable to translate the proceedings.

As a result of the language barrier and the pending translation needs, the presiding magistrate ordered that the two tourists remain in custody until the necessary arrangements can be made for court to resume.
