The Inspector General of Police, Abas Byakagaba, has announced plans to deploy more security personnel and operational equipment to Kayabwe Town Council within the Mpigi District. This move is designed to enhance public safety and improve local crime prevention efforts following a series of community concerns.

The intervention came after a security baraza organized at Kayabwe Town Council. The gathering was convened following an invitation by the Minister of State for Tourism and local Member of Parliament, Suzan Nakawuki, allowing residents and leaders to voice their security challenges directly to the police chief.

Addressing the gathering alongside the Director of Operations, AIGP Frank Mwesigwa, Byakagaba urged the local community to champion the Sub-county Policing Model. He stressed that effective crime fighting relies heavily on cooperation and the timely sharing of information between citizens and law enforcement.

To jumpstart the heightened security measures, the IGP handed over a new Land Cruiser pickup truck to boost police mobility and emergency response times in the area. He further committed to sending additional manpower, a specialized K9 unit, new motorcycles, and critical communication equipment to upgrade surveillance capabilities.

Local leaders and residents welcomed the pledges, hoping the increased visibility and logistical support will significantly deter criminal activity across Kayabwe and neighboring communities.
