Sports enthusiasts in Uganda have long desired a tailor-made pay television package that caters specifically to their niche passions. MultiChoice Uganda has finally answered that call by announcing a major content overhaul that transforms the DStv Compact bouquet into DStv Sports.

According to MultiChoice Uganda CEO Hassan Saleh, the new package is designed to give subscribers better value and direct access to the live sports they love. The DStv Sports package includes 17 dedicated channels featuring every English Premier League and UEFA Champions League match. It also brings disciplines like cricket—previously restricted to DStv Premium—alongside selected international club rugby, WWE wrestling, and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

In total, the subsidized DStv Sports package offers over 115 channels for a monthly fee of Shs100,000. Julianne Mweheire, Director of Industry Affairs and Content Development at the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), praised the move, noting that it reflects a company genuinely listening to consumer demands.

Adding to the excitement, DStv is scheduled to launch SuperSport Swahili on November 5. This new 24/7 channel is tailored specifically for East African audiences, offering localized Swahili commentary, studio analysis, and regional storytelling alongside world-class football and other international sporting events.

Meanwhile, the higher-tier DStv Premium is rebranding to DStv Ultimate, offering top-tier sports such as Formula 1, MotoGP, Grand Slam tennis, golf majors, and premium international series on M-Net.
