MultiChoice Uganda has officially reshaped the pay television landscape by transforming its DStv Compact bouquet into DStv Sports. The move answers a long-standing call from local sports enthusiasts who have spent over a decade requesting niche, sports-focused viewing options.
According to MultiChoice Uganda CEO Hassan Saleh, the new sports-centric package features 17 dedicated channels. Subscribers will gain access to every single English Premier League and UEFA Champions League match. Additionally, the lineup includes disciplines previously reserved for higher-tier packages, such as cricket, selected international club rugby, WWE wrestling, and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
In total, the DStv Sports package offers more than 115 channels at a subsidized monthly rate of Shs100,000. Julianne Mweheire, the Director of Industry Affairs and Content Development at the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), praised the initiative, highlighting that the company actively listened to consumer feedback rather than focusing strictly on economics.
Further enhancing the viewing experience, DStv is set to launch SuperSport Swahili on November 5. This new 24/7 dedicated channel is crafted specifically for East African audiences, providing Swahili commentary, studio analysis, and regional storytelling alongside world-class football and international sporting events.
For viewers seeking even more elite content, the DStv Premium package has been rebranded as DStv Ultimate. This top-tier option includes additional high-end sports such as Formula 1, MotoGP, Grand Slam tennis, and golf majors, coupled with premium international series on M-Net.
