Health authorities in Mityana Municipality have raised concerns over the persistent dumping of rubbish in undesignated areas. Officials warn that the habit severely undermines ongoing campaigns to keep the town clean and safeguard public health.
Speaking on the issue, Henry Isabirye, a health officer in the municipality’s Central Division, expressed disappointment that some community members continue to ignore sanitation guidelines. He stressed that maintaining a clean urban environment requires a collective effort and cannot be left entirely to municipal authorities.
“It is disappointing that some people continue to dump rubbish in undesignated places when we are trying to keep Mityana clean. Residents need to change this behaviour and understand that maintaining a clean town is a shared responsibility,” Isabirye noted.
Authorities are urging locals to utilize designated waste collection points rather than littering public spaces and open lots. Proper waste management must become a regular habit for households and business owners alike if the municipality is to overcome its current sanitation challenges.
Isabirye added that community participation remains the cornerstone of successful urban management. By working hand in hand with local leaders and adopting responsible disposal habits, residents can help transform Mityana into a healthier and more appealing place to live and work.
