The King of Tooro, Omukama Edward Rukidi Nyabongo I, has issued a strict directive requiring Prime Minister Calvin Armstrong Rwomire, his cabinet, and all kingdom departments to account for their stewardship. The leaders must submit detailed reports covering their activities, registered achievements, and pending programs no later than November 12.
The directive was announced during the Omukama’s inaugural Supreme Council meeting since his coronation, held at the kingdom headquarters in Mucwa. According to the King, these status reports are essential for evaluating current kingdom affairs, strengthening resource accountability, and properly managing support received from the government, corporate sponsors, and various development partners.
Following the submission deadline, the Supreme Council has been given a seven-day window to examine the documents and forward their recommendations to the King’s office by November 19. The Omukama’s office will review these recommendations before reconvening the council on November 27 to deliver final responses and charting the path forward.
To facilitate this review process, the Supreme Council swiftly appointed a seven-member committee tasked with thoroughly scrutinizing the departmental reports. The designated committee members include Asuman Kisembo, Sam Mugisa, Monday Amos, Olivia Mutamba, Mugisa Nyamirambara, and Ernest Kamara.
During the meeting, Omukama Nyabongo also addressed concerns regarding certain appointments made during the previous interim administration, noting that some were erroneous. He appealed for patience from those affected while the Supreme Council conducts a comprehensive review of the appointments.
Emphasizing harmony, the King pledged to work closely with both the Supreme Council and the kingdom administration to enhance service delivery. He noted that his reign will firmly prioritize unity, reconciliation, development, and long-term prosperity for future generations.
