Authorities have confirmed that one person has died following the collapse of a building under construction at Holy City Church in Bwerenga, Katabi Town Council, Wakiso District. The tragic incident involved a multi-storey structure that served as an extension of the main church belonging to Pastor Ronnie Makabai of Brother Ronnies Ministries.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachael Kawala, emergency teams successfully rescued approximately 22 people from the site. The survivors were quickly evacuated to Entebbe Grade B Hospital to receive urgent medical attention. While police officially confirmed one fatality, sources directly involved in the rescue efforts reported that two bodies had been retrieved from the heavy debris.

The deceased has been identified as a resident of Nansana Municipality, though authorities withheld the specific identity temporarily out of respect for the grieving family. Preliminary reports indicate that the collapsed extension had already reached the fourth floor when it suddenly caved in on Monday evening.

Emergency personnel immediately secured the scene to comb through the rubble, ensuring no additional individuals remained trapped underneath. As of publication, the exact cause of the structural failure remains unclear, and comprehensive police investigations are currently underway to determine what led to the disaster.
