National Unity Platform (NUP) politician Godfrey Saazi is taking his legal battle to the Court of Appeal following a High Court ruling that nullified his parliamentary victory in Gomba East.

Speaking to the press on Tuesday, Mr Saazi expressed dissatisfaction with the initial judgment. He argued that the presiding judge failed to properly evaluate the critical circumstances surrounding the destruction of crucial electoral materials across nine specific polling stations during the electoral process.

Despite the setback from the lower court, the legislator has remained resolute. He took the opportunity to express profound gratitude to the voters who overwhelmingly supported him during the January 15 General Election, assuring them that his legal team has already initiated the formal appeal process to reclaim his mandate.

The nullification stems from election petitions challenging the outcomes of the tightly contested polls. Legal analysts anticipate a fierce legal showdown at the appellate court as both sides present their arguments regarding the compromised polling materials and their overall impact on the final election results.
