The Corporate Sports Network is heating up as defending champions Hotel Africana and Centenary Bank edge closer to a potential third consecutive showdown in the tug-of-war final. Having split their previous two championship encounters, the heavyweight rivals remain the teams to beat as the tournament approaches its climax on November 29.
During the recent outing at Legends Club Lugogo, both powerhouses cruised through the early rounds with dominant performances. Centenary, the 2024 champions, dispatched I & M Bank 2-0 before overcoming Roofings Limited with another clean 2-0 sweep. Meanwhile, Hotel Africana showed their defensive strength by defeating Haris International and later overpowering Uganda Electricity Transmission Company (UETCL) in a mismatch that left spectators marveling at their sheer mass and coordination.
Other notable performances in the earlier rounds saw the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) defeat the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs (MODVA), while Equity Bank, DTB, and dfcu also secured comfortable victories to stay in contention for the overall title.
“We want to retain our trophy,” Hotel Africana captain John Opio told the Daily Monitor. “I think Centenary, as usual, are the strongest challengers.”
As the tournament progresses, the fixtures for round three promise even more intense drama. Centenary Bank is set to face fellow bankers DTB, Equity Bank will lock horns with UBOS, and Hotel Africana will take on Quality Chemicals as the giants battle for a spot in the grand finale.
