Traditional leaders, royals, and delegates from across the African continent have started touching down at Entebbe International Airport in Uganda. The arrivals mark the buildup to the fourth coronation anniversary of His Highness Papa Emorimor Paul Sande Etomeileng Emolot III, the King of the Iteso.
The three-day cultural milestone is scheduled to take place from October 29 to 31 at Achunet Stadium in Malaba, Busia County, Kenya. Organized by the local Iteso community, the event runs under the theme “Celebrating Our Cultural Diversity and Heritage, Building Our Palace.”
Among the early arrivals received by Iteso Cultural Union officials with vibrant traditional songs were the paramount chief of South Africa’s Khoi-San community, Nkozi Molefe Phallarg, and Prince Kwazi Zulu, representing the Zulu royal house alongside Prince Thulani Zulu and African Kingdoms Diaspora Alliance ambassador Prince Ngobese Wardile.
Speaking at the airport, Prince Thulani Zulu emphasized the importance of reconnecting with African roots and using shared spirituality to bridge cultural and national divides. Similarly, Queen Cynthia Nzilikazi Khumalo of the Mzilikazi royal house underscored the necessity of African royals supporting one another to overcome colonial-era borders that historically separated kindred communities.
Organizers anticipate a massive turnout, expecting over 80 kings, 80 queens, more than 100 diaspora delegations, and upward of 50,000 visitors. Kenyan President William Ruto and Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni are confirmed to grace the grand celebrations, alongside other notable monarchs like Eswatini’s King Mswati III and Zimbabwe’s Ndebele king.
The packed itinerary features cultural exhibitions, a symposium, sports tournaments, and traditional performances designed to showcase Iteso heritage and foster continental unity. Since his enthronement in 2022, Papa Emorimor has consistently championed cultural preservation, education, and environmental stewardship as pillars for community development.
