Ugandan and Kenyan private-sector organizations have officially signed three strategic agreements focusing on tourism, investment, and trade. The memoranda of understanding were finalized on the opening day of the fifth Uganda–Kenya Coast Tourism and Innovation Summit, held at the Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort & Spa.

The agreements include a sustainable tourism pact between the Association of Uganda Tour Operators and the Kenya Association of Tour Operators. Additionally, the Uganda Association of Travel Agents and the Kenya Association of Travel Agents committed to an innovation and regional integration framework. Furthermore, the Private Sector Foundation Uganda and the Mombasa chapter of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry partnered on wider trade and investment cooperation.

Convened by Uganda’s Consulate General in Mombasa, the summit runs under the theme of resolving policy bottlenecks through technology and seamless mobility. Officials emphasized a collaborative “Beach to Bush, Bush to Beach” marketing strategy rather than direct competition. Travel metrics indicate steady growth, with Kenyan visitors to Uganda reaching 519,041 in 2025, while Ugandan arrivals in Kenya hit 234,556 during the same period.
