Tooro Chief Prince Charles Kamulasi Kamurasi recently paid his inaugural visit to the historic Kasubi Royal Tombs, marking a significant milestone in cementing the cultural and familial bonds connecting the Buganda and Tooro kingdoms. Accompanied by several members of the Buganda royal family, including Prince Frances Sseninde and Prince Richard Walugembe, the Tooro delegation toured the sacred grounds where former Buganda kings are laid to rest.

During the guided tour, Omusuuga Kamurasi expressed his profound appreciation to the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, for safeguarding the heritage and traditions of the kingdom. He also reflected on the devastating fire that previously damaged the tombs, calling it a painful chapter for both Buganda and the wider nation of Uganda.

Beyond cultural preservation, the visit emphasized inter-kingdom solidarity. The Tooro leader highlighted that members of both royal houses view each other as a single family, noting that Buganda royals should always feel at home when visiting Tooro. Buganda representatives echoed these sentiments, stressing that the engagement goes beyond ceremonial gestures to foster lasting unity.

As part of the day’s activities, the delegation contributed to local development and heritage initiatives through the Luwalo Lwaffe programme. Officials received financial contributions and commended ongoing community support toward the Kabaka’s duties and regional growth. Leaders from both kingdoms reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining open channels of mutual support and ensuring future generations continue to honor their shared historical roots.
