A successful three-month fundraising drive for the completion of St Peter’s Cathedral Bweranyangi has officially crossed a major milestone, gathering a total of Shs3 billion. The intensive campaign culminated in a grand Thanksgiving Service, which brought together government officials, church leaders, and hundreds of devoted Christians to celebrate the progress of the sacred project.

Organisers reported that during the October 25 service alone, an impressive Shs470,122,400 was collected from generous attendees. Among the notable contributors was Prof Ephraim Kamuntu, who personally donated Shs20 million. Additionally, the event highlighted a presidential pledge of Shs300 million to further support the construction efforts.

Security Minister Jim Muhwezi, who attended the gathering, delivered a passionate message emphasizing the importance of unity, love, and togetherness. He urged both the local community and well-wishers to maintain their collaborative spirit until the cathedral is fully completed. Minister Muhwezi also praised Bishop Twinomujuni for an inspiring sermon centered on divine love and the strengthening of bonds among believers.

The service was presided over by guest speaker Rt Rev Dan Zoreka, alongside other prominent religious figures. Winstone Katushabe, chairperson of the cathedral construction committee, joined church leaders in expressing gratitude to all contributors while encouraging ongoing financial and moral support.

Preachers at the event reminded congregants that finishing the house of worship is a shared responsibility that calls for perseverance and generosity. Organisers remain optimistic that with continued backing from the government and the faithful, the remaining construction phases will soon be achieved.
