The Ugandan Judiciary is preparing to roll out its Electronic Court Case Management Information System (ECCMIS) to eight courts under Cluster 10 on November 9, 2026. This digital expansion aims to enhance access to justice, strengthen institutional accountability, and drastically reduce administrative delays in court proceedings.
Ahead of the official launch, the Judiciary conducted a comprehensive sensitisation exercise at the Mpigi High Court and Mpigi Chief Magistrate’s Court. Local leaders, court users, and community members gathered to learn how the platform operates. Led by Joseph Ssinabulya, the ECCMIS project manager from the technical committee, participants were shown how to create accounts, track cases, and receive automated updates using smartphones or computers.
Ssinabulya emphasized that the digital platform is designed to resolve persistent challenges such as missing physical case files. By streamlining communication and allowing remote access to updates, the system is expected to curb opportunities for corruption, bribery, and heavy reliance on middlemen or brokers. Furthermore, it will save litigants significant time and money spent on traveling to court premises.
To ensure a smooth transition, dedicated ECCMIS kiosks will be established at the Mpigi High Court and Mpigi Chief Magistrate’s Court on the launch date. Trained system administrators will be stationed on-site to assist court users. Ssinabulya noted that the system has already been successfully deployed in over 56 courts nationwide, where no missing file incidents have been recorded since adoption.
Mpigi High Court Deputy Registrar Arinaitwe Gorret praised the initiative as a timely breakthrough that will significantly uplift service delivery. Following the court-based engagements, the technical team also took the campaign to nearby trading centers, interacting with residents and distributing branded merchandise through informative question-and-answer sessions.
The upcoming rollout will cover the Mpigi High Court alongside the chief magistrates’ courts of Mpigi, Butambala, Buwama, Nsangi, Gomba, Kasangati, Bujuuko, and Kajjansi. Read the original story on Nile Post.
