As Primary Seven candidates prepare to sit for their national examinations, parents have been urged to reflect on their personal conduct and seek spiritual renewal. Speaking during a candidate dedication ceremony at a school in Mukono District, Steven Katabalwa, the Director of Education at the Arms Around Africa Foundation, emphasized that family dynamics play a crucial role in a child’s academic journey.
Katabalwa noted that while parents often seek divine intervention during major milestones like examinations, many overlook the need to repent for negative behaviors within the home. He warned that unresolved issues such as hatred can create transgenerational challenges that negatively impact successive generations and hinder children’s future prospects.
Echoing similar sentiments, the school’s director, Sylvia Harriet Namasigo, highlighted the significance of keeping pupils grounded in faith. She explained that the institution has integrated daily prayers into its routine to shape student character and maintain focus. Namasigo further reminded parents to remain actively involved in their children’s lives, cautioning against neglecting parental duties especially as the long holidays approach.
Both educators stressed that preparing children for national examinations requires a collaborative effort combining academic preparation, moral guidance, and spiritual support from both families and schools.
