Emergency responders have successfully rescued at least 22 individuals following the collapse of a church building under construction in Wakiso District. The incident took place on Monday evening in Bwerenga, located within the Katabi Town Council of Entebbe.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Rachael Kawala, the structure is an extension of the Holy City Church, operated by Brother Ronnie’s Ministries. Preliminary police findings indicate that the collapsed section had reached the fourth floor at the time of the accident.

All 22 rescued victims were promptly evacuated to Entebbe Grade B Hospital to receive urgent medical attention. Authorities have deployed a joint security team comprising the Uganda Police Force and the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) to secure the location and scour the debris.

Rescue teams remain active at the scene as they work tirelessly to determine whether any additional individuals are still trapped beneath the rubble. Investigations into the exact cause of the structural failure are currently ongoing.
