In the remote corners of Oyam District, a quiet daily struggle unfolds inside the overcrowded classrooms of Aloni Primary School. During a scorching Thursday afternoon lesson in Iceme Sub-county, Primary Three pupils welcomed visitors with a unified chorus before settling down for a Christian Religious Education session led by teacher Ms. Christine Achola.

However, the reality of the learning environment is stark. There are no desks or chairs for the children to use. Instead, nine-year-old Prossy Ajok and her peers are forced to kneel directly on the hard, dusty floor. With no surfaces to write on, the pupils balance their exercise books on their knees, straining to catch every word and copy notes from the front of the room.

This severe lack of basic educational infrastructure highlights the immense challenges facing rural schools in Uganda. Despite the discomfort and physical strain, these young learners remain determined to secure their future, showing remarkable resilience in the face of overwhelming odds.
