The Ugandan government has taken formal steps to secure an additional 600 acres of land located in the Gombe Division of Nansana Municipality, Wakiso District. The acquisition is intended to pave the way for a major expansion of Dei BioPharma Limited’s existing pharmaceutical and vaccine manufacturing facilities.
Spanning across Wabitembe, Kiryowa, and Kigoogwa villages, the proposed expansion project aims to significantly scale up local production capabilities. The facility will focus on manufacturing advanced medicines, critical vaccines, and specialized therapies to serve both the domestic population and lucrative international export markets.
Speaking at a recent community engagement meeting, which brought together local residents and senior government officials, Dei BioPharma founder Dr. Matthias Magoola emphasized the strategic importance of the new land. He noted that the additional space is essential for constructing modern production lines and meeting the rigorous international manufacturing standards necessary to export pharmaceuticals to major global destinations, including the United States.
This initiative marks another significant stride in Uganda’s ongoing efforts to boost domestic industrialization, enhance healthcare security, and position the East African nation as a prominent hub for pharmaceutical manufacturing and medical research on the global stage.
