Islamic leaders in Kampala have called upon the faithful to integrate the regular recitation and study of the Noble Quran into their everyday lives. Speaking during the Salam Jumah prayers hosted at the MTN Uganda headquarters, Sheikh Mustafah Muyingo delivered a poignant sermon highlighting the spiritual dangers of abandoning the holy book.
Sheikh Muyingo stressed that the Quran was revealed by Allah to serve as humanity’s ultimate guidance, a source of light for the heart, and healing for believers. He cautioned that a true believer suffers the greatest loss not by parting with worldly wealth, but by letting days and months slip away without engaging with the divine scripture. Referencing Quran 17:9, he reminded the congregation that the text points people toward righteousness and promises immense rewards for righteous deeds.
Addressing common excuses regarding busy daily schedules, the sheikh noted that many individuals easily spend hours scrolling through mobile phones yet struggle to find a few moments for spiritual reflection. He suggested practical solutions, such as dedicating ten minutes a day or reading a single page following the Fajr and Maghrib prayers. Furthermore, he encouraged those who struggle with proper pronunciation not to be discouraged, noting that Islamic tradition promises a double reward for those who persevere through difficulty.
Drawing from prophetic traditions, Sheikh Muyingo reminded worshippers that the Quran will act as an intercessor on the Day of Resurrection. He urged families to cultivate domestic study sessions, teach children early, and ensure local mosques provide accessible learning circles. Read more details about this call from Nile Post.
