Speaker Oboth Calms Parliamentary Staff Over Validation Exercise

Speaker of Parliament Jacob Marksons Oboth has stepped forward to calm anxiety among parliamentary employees regarding the ongoing Parliamentary Service staff validation exercise. Addressing recent media reports, the Speaker emphasized that the administrative process is designed to correct structural anomalies, align job titles with actual qualifications, and restore morale without targeting anyone for dismissal.

According to Oboth, the exercise is a routine administrative measure intended to bring fairness and sanity to the institution. To ensure utmost transparency and impartiality, the Speaker revealed that he sought the assistance of the Head of Public Service, noting that the Parliamentary Service operates as part of the broader public service.

The leadership’s primary objective is to make certain that employees hold positions matching their professional background and experience. Oboth stressed that titles must carry substantive weight, noting that true seniority and promotions should be anchored firmly on merit rather than mere nomenclature.

Drawing from his own professional journey, Oboth encouraged staff by sharing how he advanced through competitive interviews without political patronage. He likened public service to a fair race where everyone deserves an equal starting line to reach the finish line based on capability.

Urging employees to remain patient and focused on their duties, the Speaker reiterated that nobody should panic over the screening process. Staff members have been advised to go about their normal activities while the leadership works to build a transparent and merit-driven institution.
