President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has called upon European investors to leverage Uganda’s growing economic landscape. During a strategic meeting at State House Entebbe with European Union Ambassadors and various investors, the President emphasized that channeling funds into productive sectors is vital for job creation and accelerated economic growth.

Highlighting Africa’s expanding population, President Museveni pointed out the immense market potential awaiting European businesses. He remarked that establishing projects in Uganda effectively links local markets directly to Europe, creating mutually beneficial partnerships.

Discussions during the engagement heavily focused on infrastructural development, energy costs, and financing. The President underscored that affordable electricity and robust railway networks remain critical for enhancing manufacturing competitiveness. He urged institutions like the European Investment Bank to direct more funding toward strategic infrastructure, including energy generation and vital transport routes.

Furthermore, President Museveni reaffirmed the government’s commitment to offering tax incentives, such as 10-year tax holidays for eligible manufacturers. He explained that Uganda prioritizes production and employment generation over immediate direct taxation, noting that indirect taxes from consumer spending and incomes naturally follow robust economic activity.

Opportunities within the agricultural sector were also prominent on the agenda. The President encouraged ventures into agro-processing, irrigation, and fish farming to fully utilize local raw materials like maize and soya beans, thereby boosting farmer incomes and supporting value addition.
