A High Court session reviewing the election petition against Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze experienced an unexpected interruption on Tuesday. Relatives of two intended witnesses raised alarm, claiming the men had vanished days earlier before discovering them inside a vehicle parked right at the court premises.

The relatives pointed out Joseph Yiga and Fred Ssebata as the individuals in question. According to family members, the two men had gone missing since Sunday. After an active search, they were located inside a white Toyota Alphard, registration number UA 834 EH, stationed at the Mukono High Court grounds.

The dramatic discovery quickly escalated tensions surrounding the high-profile legal battle. Police intervened at the scene, escorting individuals involved as onlookers and legal teams reacted to the unfolding commotion. Court proceedings were temporarily halted to restore order and address the security and logistical concerns raised by the presence of the disputed witnesses.

The election petition challenges the legislative victory of Ms. Nambooze, with the petitioner seeking a thorough judicial review of alleged electoral irregularities. As the legal battle continues, the court will need to carefully evaluate all submitted evidence to determine whether the claims hold enough weight to demand a formal legal remedy.
