MTN Uganda has officially introduced MTN Starlink for Business, a new service aimed at extending reliable internet connectivity to enterprises and institutions operating in remote, underserved parts of the country. Acting as an authorized reseller, MTN combines Starlink’s advanced Low-Earth-Orbit satellite technology with its own local customer support and account management.
CEO Sylvia Mulinge emphasized that the initiative aligns with the company’s vision that geographic location should not hinder progress. The new service is designed to complement existing mobile and fibre infrastructure rather than replace it. Businesses can utilize the satellite solution as a primary connection, a robust backup, or a rapid deployment option where traditional networks are unavailable.
The practical impact of the service was showcased at Libra International School in Zirobwe. School Director Sekabembe William noted that prior internet solutions were costly and inefficient, hampering digital learning and administration. With the new deployment, students and teachers now enjoy reliable, high-speed access that has streamlined online research, school management systems, and communication with parents.
Beyond education, the enterprise offering caters to sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, mining, tourism, and humanitarian operations located beyond standard infrastructure limits. This rollout falls under MTN Uganda’s Ambition 2030 strategy, driving digital inclusion and economic participation nationwide.
