A delegation comprising prominent Ugandan Muslim clerics and religious officials has embarked on a journey to Nairobi, Kenya, to inspect the production facilities of Yo Kuku. The primary objective is to thoroughly evaluate hygiene practices and verify compliance with halal standards in the manufacture of the company’s chicken products, especially sausages.

The visiting team includes Sheikh Muhsin Burhan Kiti, Sheikh Shafik Mafo, Sheikh Abdulrazak Kakooza from the Uganda Halal Bureau, and Hajj Karim Kaliisa, the managing director of Salam TV and Salam Charity. According to the clerics, the inspection aims to give consumers transparent information regarding food processing methods so they can make informed dietary choices.

Sheikh Burhan noted that personal reservations about certain processed sausages on the local market prompted the need for a firsthand look at how Yo Kuku manufactures its items. Meanwhile, Sheikh Kakooza stated that technical expertise from the Uganda Halal Bureau will be utilized during the assessment to guarantee that proper religious and health protocols are strictly followed.

Speaking on behalf of the company, a Yo Kuku representative welcomed the visit, emphasizing that the tour demonstrates the firm’s dedication to meeting halal standards and strengthening ties with the broader Muslim community. Hajj Kaliisa added that Salam TV remains committed to educating the public about reliable, halal-certified companies operating within the region.

In addition to the factory tour, Kaliisa shared updates regarding the ongoing seventh edition of the Omumanyi wa Salam TV 2026 competition. Regional contests have already wrapped up in Busoga, Eastern Uganda, and Bunyoro-Toro, with upcoming legs scheduled for Northern Uganda and West Nile. The grand prize vehicle for the competition is slated to be unveiled soon.

On matters of pilgrimage, Kaliisa provided a positive outlook on Hajj and Umrah travel. He noted that ongoing coordination between the Uganda Bureau of Hajj Affairs, Saudi authorities, and the World Health Organization is helping stabilize travel conditions, ensuring that pilgrims can prepare for their journeys with confidence.
