The much-anticipated Tororo High Court building is on the cusp of completion, with its handover to the Judiciary slated for November 30, 2026. Robinson Reeka, managing director of Eleven Steps Company Limited, the firm responsible for the construction, confirmed the near-completion during a site meeting on October 21, 2026.

According to Reeka, only minor finishing touches remain. These include the installation of furniture, landscaping the compound with paspalum grass, painting a VIP restroom, and a final site clean-up. These outstanding tasks are expected to be finished within the next month, ensuring the facility meets the required standards.

The Judiciary’s Engineering Department, represented by Commissioner Eng. George Turyakira, expressed eagerness to occupy the new premises. Turyakira highlighted the inadequacy of their current rented facilities, emphasizing the urgent need for a dedicated and suitable space for court operations.

This new High Court building is poised to significantly enhance access to justice for residents of Tororo District and the broader Bukedi sub-region. Currently, many individuals face long travel distances to access judicial services. The completion is seen as a crucial step in bringing these services closer to the people.

Tororo District Chairperson John Okea echoed the sentiment of excitement, calling the nearing completion an important milestone. He recalled the initial struggles to secure land for the project, noting that some local council leaders had opposed the initiative. Okea stressed the importance of prioritizing residents’ needs and supporting development projects that improve service delivery, reminding leaders of their responsibility to the community.

Upon its operationalization, the Tororo High Court building will offer an improved working environment for judicial officers and a more accessible justice system for the region’s inhabitants.
