Rose Nalubowa, the National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate for the Masaka City Woman Parliamentary seat, has announced her intention to appeal the High Court’s decision. The High Court recently upheld the election victory of State Minister for Local Government, Justine Nameere.

Nalubowa, speaking to journalists in Masaka City on Wednesday, indicated that her legal team has been instructed to pursue the matter at the Court of Appeal. She was flanked by her lawyers, Samuel Muyizzi and Alexander Lule, who are assisting in the case.

According to Nalubowa, the High Court’s acknowledgement of procedural irregularities during the vote recount, as noted by Justice Bernard Namanya, presents a strong basis for challenging the ruling. She expressed concerns about the integrity of the judicial process, referencing decisions made at both the Chief Magistrate’s Court and the High Court levels.

Nalubowa remains hopeful that the Court of Appeal will review the case and ultimately vindicate the choice of the voters in Masaka City. The legal battle centers on the results of the January 15, 2026, parliamentary elections.
