Justine Nameere, the State Minister for Local Government, has celebrated a significant legal victory after the High Court upheld her election as the Member of Parliament for Masaka City Woman. The court’s decision on October 21, 2026, dismissed an election petition that had been filed against her, a ruling Ms. Nameere proclaimed as a triumph orchestrated by divine power.
In her jubilant reaction, Ms. Nameere stated, “My testimony: God has done it! The Almighty living God has ashamed the devil! The Almighty living God has defeated monitoring spirits! The Almighty God has defeated every jealous enemy—those I know and those I do not know!”
She further alleged that her political opponents had been actively working against her since the initial stages of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries. Ms. Nameere, an NRM member, described the efforts against her as a conspiracy involving various factions.
“Yesterday, while my enemies were yapping endlessly and making silly predictions, I was at complete peace—so happy, so full, so complete. Because there is no peace for the wicked! They were lamenting because they knew they were losing,” she remarked. Ms. Nameere accused “mafias and thieves” of hindering her progress since the NRM primaries, asserting that they had collaborated with elements within the NUP to undermine her victory in the general election. She concluded by emphasizing her belief that divine intervention secured her win. This report is based on information from the Daily Monitor.
