Employees of the Parliament of Uganda reported for a rigorous vetting process yesterday, beginning early in the morning. Staff members began arriving at the Parliament Conference Halls A and B by 6:30 AM, many appearing visibly anxious.

The vetting exercise is designed to validate the academic qualifications and employment records of every individual on the Parliament’s payroll. This move by the Speaker’s office is a direct response to growing concerns about potentially irregular recruitment procedures that may have occurred within the institution.

This significant undertaking reflects a broader effort to ensure accountability and adherence to established standards within the parliamentary administration. The process is expected to cover all staff members, regardless of their department or tenure, to establish a clear and verifiable record of the workforce.

Sources indicate that this vetting is part of a larger strategy to enhance transparency and efficiency within Parliament, ensuring that all employees meet the necessary criteria for their roles. The objective is to rebuild trust and strengthen the operational integrity of the legislative body.

The exercise highlights a commitment to rectifying past recruitment issues and establishing a more robust human resource management system for the future.
