The legal community in Nebbi is in shock following the sudden death of Deputy Resident State Attorney Emmanuel Bumbi Naguyo. Naguyo was found lifeless in his home in Riverview Cell, Nebbi Municipality, on Monday morning.

Concerns were first raised when Naguyo failed to arrive for court proceedings as scheduled. Colleagues attempted to contact him by phone without success. This prompted one colleague to visit his rented residence, only to find the door locked.

Authorities were alerted, and police officers were compelled to break down the door to gain entry. Inside, they discovered Naguyo’s body. The discovery was made around 10 AM, according to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).

Nebbi District Police Commander, SP James Mwesigye, described the incident as a “sudden death,” emphasizing that the exact cause remains undetermined. “We haven’t yet established what happened to him,” Mwesigye stated, adding that an autopsy would be crucial. He noted that the possibility of natural causes, such as a heart attack or other underlying illness, is being considered.

The body has since been transported to Nebbi General Hospital for a postmortem examination. The ODPP expressed deep sadness and shock over the loss of Naguyo, who had served as a State Attorney for three years. They extended condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues, acknowledging his contributions to the institution.

Police investigations are ongoing to shed light on the circumstances surrounding his passing. Funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course.
