Uganda is making ready to host the 2026 CAVB Zone V Beach Volleyball Championship, an event set to draw competitors from twelve nations to Bunjako Beach on Lake Victoria from October 21st to 26th.
The tournament, part of the larger CAVB Zone V Beach Tour, will feature participants from Burundi, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, and the host nation, Uganda.
Organizers are drawing confidence from past international events, with the Local Organising Committee (LOC) chairman, Moses Opio, emphasizing their readiness. “We previously hosted a successful Africa Nations Championship qualifier, and we are banking on that experience to deliver a top-notch event,” Opio stated, highlighting the committee’s experience.
The championship follows the Bujumbura Tour, where Burundi secured gold, Kenya took silver, and Uganda earned bronze, indicating a high level of competition expected in Entebbe. This event also marks a potential debut for South Sudan and Somalia on the beach volleyball circuit.
The Ugandan team, aiming for a strong showing, will be led by experienced players Eunice Amuron and Margaret Namyalo. Burundi, bolstered by their recent hosting of the Volleyball World Bujumbura Pro Tour, will field a competitive team, possibly including Florian Manariyo.
