Uganda is experiencing a disturbing increase in violent nighttime incidents, leaving citizens in fear for their safety. Recent events highlight a pattern of targeted attacks that often culminate in death and destruction.

In Mukono District, businessman Edris Ssekindi was fatally shot just before midnight on a Saturday. He was ambushed while driving his family home, with assailants shattering his car window and demanding entry. This incident is part of a broader trend that has seen residents spending sleepless nights amid a spate of puzzling attacks.

The violence is not confined to one region. Mubende District has also been rocked by a triple murder, fueling widespread fear among its residents. Reports indicate that attackers are specifically targeting homes during the night, leaving communities vulnerable.

These events echo other recent security concerns, including the murder of a Gulu University student, which sparked unrest. The country has also seen a rise in kidnap-for-ransom rackets, adding another layer of insecurity.

Authorities are currently pursuing leads in these cases, but the growing frequency and audacity of these nighttime assaults are raising serious questions about public safety and the effectiveness of current security measures. The nation watches anxiously as police work to apprehend those responsible and restore a sense of security.
