Mubende Security Boosted After Deadly Attacks; Suspect Arrested

Following a brutal night of violence in Kitenga Sub-county, Mubende District, security operations have been significantly ramped up. The attacks, which resulted in deaths and injuries, prompted an immediate deployment of additional security personnel to restore calm and apprehend those responsible.
Crime intelligence officers, acting on leads from the affected communities, have successfully arrested a primary suspect in connection with the raids. The individual, identified as Nelson Nuwataho, was apprehended on October 12 in the Rwizi region. His arrest is a direct result of intelligence-led operations that followed the initial assault on several homes.
Authorities confirmed the arrest on October 13, stating that Nuwataho has been transferred to Mubende Police Station for extensive interrogation. Wamala Regional Police Spokesperson Lameck Kigozi emphasized the crucial role of community intelligence in the breakthrough, underscoring the importance of local cooperation in combating crime.
To further bolster security and deter future incidents, a contingent of 50 heavily armed Field Force Unit (FFU) personnel has been deployed to Kitenga Sub-county. These officers, dispatched from Naguru in Kampala, will work alongside existing police and UPDF deployments to protect residents and property.
Security agencies have assured the public that they remain vigilant and committed to ensuring safety. This collaborative effort between security forces and the community aims to bring an end to the recent spate of violence and restore confidence among residents.
